The Layers Beneath is a four-part work that examines transformation through accumulation, pressure, heat and gravity. Each 8x8 panel holds strata of acrylic, coffee, limesone, sand, sald, pastel, and charcoal sourced from Mendocino and Lake street in Altadena formed during the Eaton Fire. Together, the works operarte as a single field- variations within a shared history--where material shifts mirror the way land is altered by fire and time. What emerges is neither literal landscape nor image, but the physical evidence of burning, settling, and rebuilding.
